Q: Are there any waiting periods before a member may see a GP?
A: Normally new members are required to wait one month before they can use the Pre-paid Preventative Healthcare service. If in doubt, the member should contact DAY1 on 0861 113 513.

Q: Does a member have to select a Dentist from the Network list?
A: Yes.

Q: Is over the counter medication covered?
A: No. The Network GP has to prescribe medication from the medication formulary. If the Network doctor is a non dispensing practitioner, the member will have to call the Network to establish which pharmacy to use. Members may go to any Clicks / Mediscor Pharmacy.

Q: Are Specialist visits covered under the Day 2 Day Pre-paid Preventative Healthcare Plan?
A: One Specialist visit per year per family on GP reference, maximum R500 (subject to pre-authorization)

Q: Can a member nominate their own GP?
A: Generally the answer is no. However, if there isn’t a contracted GP in an area, the member must call DAY1 Health for assistance.

Q: GP visits when on holiday or away from your home
A: The DAY1 Health Pre-paid Preventative Healthcare Plan caters for three (3) out of area visits per year provided they are within South Africa. In other words, a member can consult any GP and afterwards reclaim R240 of the consultation fee from the Network.

Q: Are GP consultations free of charge?
A: All Network consultations are free of charge. Payment of a member’s monthly premium ensures this.

Q: Are Doctor Visits unlimited?
A: GP visits are unlimited but managed. Initially the member will have to select a GP from the One Doctor Health provider list. Once the member has selected a GP, the chosen GP will become the member’s permanent doctor.
